What to Include in Your Pitch Deck

THE BASICS

OVERVIEW

A pitch deck is a short presentation, usually 10-12 slides, showcasing your business plan to potential investors, customers or partners. The deck is intended to be succinct, informational yet inspirational, and convince your audience that it’s worthwhile investing their money, time or energy into your business.

WHAT TO INCLUDE

COMPANY INFORMATION

You’ll need a slide with your company name, logo, and a 10-words-or-less elevator pitch of your business.

THE PROBLEM

What is the problem your business is trying to solve for?

THE SOLUTION

This is where your business offering comes into it - what are you solving for?

VALUE PROPOSITION

Think of this as the secret ingredient - what sets you apart from your competitors. Within the value proposition, you should include a market analysis and your Go-to-Market strategy.

TEAM

Speak to the core management team of your business and the roles they play.

FINANCIALS

Now is your time to focus on forecasting the success of your business by showcasing your projected financials and key metrics. This needs to be realistic, yet slightly idealistic.

IMPORTANT TIPS

KEEP IT SIMPLE

Ideally, words should be kept to a minimum yet be specifically chosen to convey the vision of your business opportunity. You don’t want to overwhelm your audience with paragraphs of information, so try and be concise with your words.

BE SELECTIVE WITH YOUR COLOR PALETTE

Use color simplistically - don’t overcomplicate your slides. Too many visual components will distract from the message you’re trying to convey.

GET ON BRAND

Before you begin take your ideas to potential investors, partners or clients, you need to make sure you have an established brand voice. Your content should reiterate the same messages that your brand stands by. While building out a pitch deck, make sure to incorporate your logo, brand typography, colors and imagery that aligns with your vision for the business.
